on M103 Bus running from Upper East Side to East Villageshe sees a homeless guy dragging his 2 large shopping carts, which contained his stuff and some helpful junks, into the subway car. he feels so small, she can tell. it seems to him that it's not a perfect timing to travel around the city, as it's a prime time. the train stops at the next stop, the doors open, a gorgeous working-classed woman steps in and glances at the homeless guy, and steps aside to the other side. the homeless guy seems feeling awkward. he is looking for a new space that he and his stuff can fit in without annoying other passengers. she thinks the homeless guy thinks too much. that woman just looked at him in order to find some space to hold and stand. she, the observer, does not see any hesitances standing close to the homeless guy from that woman at all.
Then she thinks to herself, "this is one thing I really love about New York. the poor and the richer live together in the same place. the rich then can see how strugglingly the poorer have to be;in the same time, the poor then can feel he is counted as a part of the social stem.
Friday May 15, 2010 6.00 pm:
"we went to the same law school."
"oh yeh?"
"now she goes to an art school."
"you must really have fun there. is it fun there?"
"well, it's hard to compare. just different."
this is one thing she is annoyed about social life. when people first meet, they just talk about a very surface of thing. to her, it's better to keep her mouth shut rather than spilling out words that she has never wanted to invent. her full-version answer to that question would actually be , "in law school, the more you read the more you study the more you gain; but, in design, the more you see little shifts in everyday life, the more you care about surroundings, the more succeed in your career."
Saturday May 16, 2010 4.00 pm:
she walks into a vietnamese restaurant as usual. the guy at the counter says, "one to-go iced coffee, right?" she nods her head and waits.
"song baht ha-sib."
"how did you know that I'm thai?"
"your accent is soft unlike of chinese, taiwanese or korean."
"haha that's very funny."
although she has been there for almost 2 years, seen the same waiter, this is the first time he talks to her in her native language.
Saturday May 16, 2010 9.00 pm:
"let's take a bus instead of taking a train!!
I wanna see the other side of life."
on the bus, she suddenly changes her mind. they separate at 59 st stop. homemade hot chocolate seems more convincing to her rather than 3rd night drinking at st.mark's. it's time to slow down, examine life, and stay alone.
Tomorrow:
Thai Artist Alliance at General Thai Consulate House.
she can't wait to know how she will feel about all the formal situations.
